The friendliness of the staff also receives high marks—you're greeted with a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home. While many love The Fishermens Rest, it isn't without some drawbacks. A common complaint is the wait time for phone reservations—busy hours can lead to delays. Many patrons suggest arriving in person for bookings to ensure a table, especially during peak dining times like Sunday evenings.
Some diners also note that service can slow down a bit when the pub is packed, particularly during lunch rush hours. Additionally, the lack of indoor dog access before 9 PM can be inconvenient for pet owners, limiting the experience for those who’d love to bring their furry friends along.
A really friendly welcome as you enter this pub which appears to be predominantly full of diners at lunchtime - the specials board looks the business. Cask ales are well kept and are more on the traditional side. I had Landlord and its quality justified the entry in the Good Beer Guide.
Been coming here for quite a few years and they always have a good selection of real ales and beers. They have a large menu with a wide choice. I had the Beef Stroganoff and it was really tasty. I would recommend trying it out. It always seems full every lunchtime we call in so would recommend booking in advance. The only downside is that they can take a while to answer the phone as I presume they're always very busy.
Excellent food and beer! It was my first pint after a dry September so it was even more appreciated than usual.
Great place for a good meal and very reasonable prices and Cask Ales to fantastic for better and a short walk from the Motorhome park I would recommend that you book they are very busy for a good reason I was very lucky that someone vacated a table as I was asking for one
Called in here on a recommendation and we loved it. The staff were friendly welcoming, the food was very fresh and of excellent quality and the atmosphere was lovely and cosy with a good mix of people. We would definitely recommend a visit.
Friendly staff and efficient service. Very busy when we visited, with most tables occupied and staff immediately advised there would be a bit of a wait for lunch. Huge choice of food and we didn’t have to wait long for our lunch to arrive. Very well presented and food was excellent. Definitely worth a visit and if we’re in the area, we will be back again. Recommend
Really good food, one of the best places to come for a drink and a meal. Relaxed atmosphere. Always busy though and staff always ready to help. Been twice now with the family. Will be definitely coming back again
